This new roof is a testament to our team's ability to merge tradition with innovation. We have preserved the historical Danish-style hip roof construction, carefully marking the new plywood to replicate the original roof. At the same time, we integrated contemporary architectural techniques to bolster resistance to wind and rain—enhancing durability while keeping the building's character.
Innovative Roofing Technique: Seamless Panel Installation on Main St. Building
We installed two panels across the roof's span. One panel extends continuously from the ridge to the lower transition flashing—a method unique to our project. It departs from the traditional approach, where roofers form the angle by moving up and down and hammering the panel into place. Our method tightens tolerances and underscores our commitment to precision.
Waterproofing of New Roof
Waterproofing is installed where the transition panel meets the flashing: (1) a black neoprene rubber closure, and (2) butyl tape extending over and under the closure and over the 7/8-inch rib of the corrugated 24-gauge panel. These measures help resist wind-driven rain at the transition, though periodic inspection is still recommended.
